As-salamu Alikum. Ramadan Mubarak! The new moon was sighted on Monday night, with fasting to begin on Tuesday, InShaAllah.

Crescentwatch has received and confirmed reliable reports of the new crescent moon of Ramadan being sighted by the naked-eye on Monday evening in San Diego and San Francisco Bay Area. We are delighted to welcome the entry of this sacred month and to begin the blessed fast of Ramadan on Tuesday, April 13.

May Allah accept it from all of us and make our Ramadan a source of benefit, enrichment, and closeness to Allah, Most High.

As-salamu Alikum. Some information for KIC during the Holy month of Ramadan …
1. A large tent, 40 ft x 80 ft will be placed in the KIC premises on Monday, April 12, for 30 days for the month of Ramadan, inshaAllah. We received the City of Fort Worth permit for the tent yesterday evening, alhamduLillah. The tent will provide plenty of room, inshaAllah for both Taraweeh prayers, as well as Jumaa prayers.
2. Sisters will be accommodated inshaAllah in the Sisters’ room inside the Masjid, as well as in the tent as needed
3. Taraweeh prayers will be led every day by Mufti Safwaan, as well as Imam Asif’s son, Nauman
4. Mufti Moaz will also lead Maghrib prayers every day for anyone who will attend Maghrib Salah at the Masjid
5. Shaykh Gyasi McKinzie will lead Salatul Fajr in the mornings, inshaAllah

3/25/2021

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the following changes will take place at KIC, inshaAllah:

1 – Shaykh Gyasi McKinzie will be leading Salatul Fajr every morning

2 – Maghrib and Isha will be led by Mufti Moaz, inshaAllah

3 – Salatul Tarawih will also be led by Mufti Moaz, and he will be assisted by the son (Nauman) of Imam Asif of Watauga Masjid. MashaAllah, Nauman is a newly minted Hafiz who studied under Mufti Naieem of Irving. Imam Asif had made the request to KIC to consider having his son as a part of our Tarawih prayers, and we are thankful to Allah to be able to honor the request.

Any additional information about the Holy Month of Ramadan will be forthcoming, inshaAllah.

3/18/2021

As we mentioned on March 3, the Board of Trustees is currently working on refining the process and policies to conduct KIC elections. To this end, we have engaged the services of professionals.

Also as previously discussed, when available, the pertinent information will be shared and discussed with the General Body of KIC, both electronically and through a Zoom meeting, inshaAllah.

Once that process is complete, an election date will be declared, and elections held, inshaAllah.

Friday, May 22, 2020:

Eid al-Fitr (1st of Shawwal) will be on Sunday, May 24, 2020, Inshā’Allāh.

As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh,

The undersigned scholars met after Maghrib on Friday, May 22, 2020 to determine if there were any credible sightings of the crescent from anywhere on the globe. Reports emerged from a few places in the world, including Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia. However, after careful deliberation we decided not to accept those reports due to a sighting being impossible in those areas. The moon was born today at 12:36 PM CST and is currently around 8 hours old in Collin County. The current world record for a naked-eye sighting is 15 hours and 32 minutes, and with optical aid it is 11 hours and 40 minutes. Therefore, due to the impossibility of sighting the crescent moon anywhere in the world, we will complete 30 days of Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr (1st of Shawwal) will be on Sunday, May 24, 2020, Inshā’Allāh . May Allah (Most High) accept everyone’s worship

March 21, 2020: With the most recent announcement from Tarrant County regarding the COVID-19 virus, which went into effect at 6:00pm this evening, all churches and religious places of worship are now prohibited to perform in-person services. The Board of Trustees of KIC, in consultation with our Imam, has therefore decided to close down our Masjid indefinitely, in compliance with the rulings, until further notice. May Allah SWT in His infinite wisdom and mercy, accept our Istighfaar, and permit us to return to the Masjid in the very near future so that we may continue to perform our sujood in congregation, inshaAllah.

Monday, February 3, 2020: AlhamduLillah, by the mercy of Allah, SWT, the KIC Community was blessed with the presence of Shaykh Yaser Birjas for our first Family Night of the Year on Friday, January 31. The Shaykh’s message was well received and provided scholarly background from the Quran and Sunnah on the various aspects of our family and home lives. The two most note-worthy Ayahs from the Quran pointed out by the Shaykh:

And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith – We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.” Surah At-Tur, Ayah 21 (52:21)

O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.” Surah At-Tahrim, Ayah 6 (66:6)

On Family Life and Leadership, the Shaykh noted the following Hadith:

Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, SAW, said: “Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The leader of people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects. A man is the guardian of his family, and he is responsible for them. A woman is the guardian of her husband’s home and his children, and she is responsible for them. The servant of a man is the guardian of the property of his master and he is responsible for it. No doubt, every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock.” Sahih Al Bukhari 6719, Sahih Muslim 1829

The TEN PRINCIPLES OF A HAPPY FAMILY include the following characteristics: 1) They have a togetherness experience, 2) they communicate, 3) they always learn, 4) they’re grateful, 5) they exercise patience, 6) they forgive, 7) they think win-win, 8) they are hospitable, 9) they have love, 10) they have mercy
